  2. Dear Ms. Anna, Tom, Alice & Richie,

There is joy knowing that Mr. Chuck has gone home to glory, yet deeply saddened that he is no longer with us. May you and the entire Yuen family sense the Great Comforter's perfect peace as you grieve. The Lord promises that blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Death is death, and we hate it with you. And we long for the day it is over. May the Lord's Word and Spirit be your constant companions and comfort.

    With much love,

    Ephod & Sylvia Shang

  3. Elder Chuck has always been a kind elder to me. He always makes himself available on Sundays, both on the first floor and the second floor greeting and smiling at the brothers and sisters. The kind handshake and “how are you doing?” is a brand that Elder Chuck carries that deeply imprinted in my heart. This world is spinning around so fast, we are often running around doing things, but God selected Elder Chuck to provide a safe harbor that can accommodate anyone who wants to pray with. Thank you, Elder Chuck, for being part of my life, teaching me how important it is to be available to everyone and be kind. Now he is with the Lord that only assures that one day we will reunite in His glory. May the heavenly comfort be with Ms Anna and the family.

    Love,
    David and Sue Huang

  4. Dear Anna,

Karen and I are very saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Elder Chuck who is now with his Lord. As our children were growing up at OCM, we recalled how often we met Chuck and you around the 4th floor office. You both are always so encouraging to us young parents. We thank God for your faithfulness in serving. We will surely miss Chuck's gentle manner and warm smile. Life is so fragile. Yet we have true hope in our Lord. Surely, we will see Chuck again on that very day.

May God comfort you and your family!

    In Him,
David and Karen Har with Daniel, Rachel, Stephanie

  5. Dear Family,
Our deep condolences for the loss of a dear friend who had served God faithfully for so many years at OCM. He was a faithful servant of God , a loving and caring husband to Anna, his soul mate and helper to Kingdom building for our Lord, a kind and loving father to Tom ,Richie, and Alice and to their spouses; and a very proud and loving grandfather to all his 12 grand children. He had run a good race and had finished the race with a crown of glory waiting for him at the finish line. God welcome another saint in heaven, our dear friend Chuck.

  6. Dear Anna,
Just want to let you know that we felt sad and lost when we heard that Elder Chuck had passed away. We will miss his friendly smile in OCM and his dedication and wisdom as coworker in Steering Committee and as co-advisor for the Grace Spring Fellowship.
We cannot remember when we first got to know each other, but we know it has been a long time, more than a third of a century. We consider this time with him a blessing. When Edward served in the steering committee with Elder Chuck, they shared many happy memories as well as difficult moments together. Edward found it easy to work alongside Elder Chuck because of their similar engineering background, with similar approach and methodology in tackling issues.
Even though Elder Chuck usually attended the English services, we appreciated the extra efforts he made to greet worshipers of the Chinese services with warm, friendly and caring welcomes. His smile and sincere greetings will remain in our memories for a long time. We know that he has been a blessing to many while he was alive, but his sudden departure also serves to remind many of us to see life differently, to treasure and to be thankful for everything God bestows – another blessing God has given to us through him.
We all miss Elder Chuck, and we wish to convey our condolences to you and your family. We pray for God’s mercy and comfort to be with you during this difficult time.
    In His Blessings,
    Christy and Edward

  7. Dear Anna. It's been close to 40 years since we last saw you and Chuck and perhaps our paths may have crossed at least once over the years somewhere in Chinatown. Esther and I are extremely sorry to learn of Chuck's sudden passing. We know that he is in the hands of our Lord God. Please accept our condolences. May his legacy continue with your family and all he had contact with to prepare for Jesus' return. Be at peace.

    In Christ alone,
    Esther and King Louie

  8. Dear Mrs Anna, Tom, Rich and Alice -

I'll miss Elder Chuck's smile, kindness and his sincerity toward all OCM members.

He always greeted me with a smile and a gentle hello each time I enter English services sitting on the first few rows of the left side. He is a noble man of God setting an example toward others & serving humbly in many roles in the church. No matter what, Elder Chuck leaves a big impression of humility toward others.

Words can't express the feeling we all have on his sudden passing. Continue to pray for comfort to your family. May God's grace & peace bestow you & your family during this difficult time.
    Please take care all!

    In His Grace,
    Kitty Li

    Dear Anna,

We are all shocked by the sudden loss of Chuck from your family and our OCM family. It's difficult to accept God's plan as without Elder Chuck there's such an empty feeling. Elder Chuck was an exemplary quiet spiritual leader for our English service. He showed his strength through his gentle approach.
As author Andy Mort pointed out, a gentle person attracts the trust of others because of this strength. Elder Chuck certainly entrusted many under his care.

Through the New Life class, he prepared many to baptism; through his service on the Steering Committee, he dedicated numerous hours along with other OCM brothers and sisters in managing the church and its renovation; through his work as an engineer and lunch time bible studies with colleagues; through his love with Anna and their love for God, raising young families in God's principles.

Elder Chuck will forever remain our Antioch cornerstone of faith. As Elder Chuck welcomed many to the English Service weekly, we look forward to his welcoming the many to heaven.

Be strong with God by your side, Yuen family as this is what Elder Chuck would encourage you to do. Carry on his legacy as there is still a lot of evangelism work to be done.

In reverence to our God who is the giver of life,
    Wendy, Bill, Jason and Selina

  11. I am very saddened to hear that Elder Chuck has returned to be with the Lord. Elder Chuck had dedicated himself to serve humbly and faithfully at OCM Church. Although I do not know him well, I had the great pleasure of seeing him at the afternoon English services at OCM church when I was living in Manhattan. As I walk up the stair and enter the sanctuary, he would greet me (and everybody) with his distinctive smile. A smile that conveys the message: you are welcomed here, you are family here, and come experience God’s love together with us because we care for you. The same smile would bid me goodbye at the end of service, a smile that says: great to have you join our worship, may you be blessed, and may the love and peace of God be with you. His loving and gentle smile will never be forgotten. His smile shouts out God’s grace and love. We will all miss that smile of Elder Chuck. May we learn from him how to serve the Lord with such a smile.
To the Yuen family, I offer my condolences and heartfelt sympathy. Although we are in sorrow presently, we also know that we will joyfully meet some day in God’s glory. Surely, Elder Chuck will hear the words “my honest and faithful servant” as He enters the Kingdom of our Heavenly Father.
    Amen.
    Willie (OCM Grace Church)

  12. Having moved away from NYC, I have not seen Chuck for probably 25+years. Upon hearing of his passing - what immediately came to mind was Chuck always had a gentle and humble way about him - a true model of servant leadership. In addition, he loved and cared for others - an expression of his love for the Good Shepherd. We grieve with the family - with hope and encouragement. 1 Th. 4:13.

  13. My father and I have served with Elder Chuck on various committees at OCM. One of the things we will remember about him is how humble and a man of few words he was. He never showed anger. But when he was upset, you knew it. I always admired this about him. Although our family will miss him terribly on earth, we cannot wait to see him again in heaven.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. We praise God for the time and experiences we had with Elder Chuck!

With our love from the Tan family.

  14. Dear Family,

Your husband/dad was a stalwart. The OCM family has lost a good and faithful servant of the Lord. Praise the LORD, he is in perfect peace with the LORD. He'll be sorely missed. I remember the good times when Elder Chuck was overseeing the English ministry and as a fellowship counselor for many years. He did this with a smile and humble attitude. Loved how he stood up for God’s word, truth and his consistency of his servant attitude as a follower of Jesus Christ.

My Condolences and may God’s grace and peace be with your family.

    Love in Christ,
    George & Mia

  15. Elder Chuck was a good student. He was at the top of his class, finished God's assignment ahead of schedule and is now with our Lord. Thank God for His work through Elder Chuck and his family. He will be missed but his dedication will continue to inspire us to bear fruits. With Love, Hope and Faith, Linda Cheng (OCM)

  17. Dearest Auntie Anna, Alice, Rich, and Tom,
Our deepest condolences to you. As a kid growing up at OCM, I always knew Elder Chuck as Uncle Chuck. I remember those Sundays when our parents would be in fellowship meetings and my friends and I would run up and down the stairs chasing each other through the hallways like little rascals. One time I ran into Uncle Chuck and expected a stern reprimand, as most adults would give, but instead he smiled, greeted me by name, and asked how I was doing, as if he had never noticed me running through the church halls like a maniac. Fast forward to adulthood, Uncle Chuck always took the time to greet us and our kids whenever we would see him at church. That was Uncle Chuck, always taking the time to say hi. We will miss his constant presence that we came to expect at every Sunday service. His kindness, humbleness, and faithfulness will always be remembered. There will be moments during the next few days, months, and years that will be hard but our God is faithful, He hears our cries, He knows our hearts. May God fill you with His comfort, strength, and hope.
    Love in Christ,
    Anna & Kai Diao
